This doll was released in 2004.   As you can see (below) the original AD announced the intention of a series of these dolls.  "Me and My Campbell's" was the only doll in this series of vinyl doll's that is known to have been produced.  The doll was stopped in production for unknown reasons right after it's release. A very limited collectable.

 November 12,  2007
After researching the Eugene Doll Company I have failed to come up with any information on the company its self.  I would be curious to know if the company is still in exsistance.
The Eugene, Campbell Kids were produced in 1985.  Today I will start with a pair of the larger dolls made by Eugene for the Campbell Soup Company.  They are 17" Tall with cloth, fiber filled bodies.  Thier heads, arms and legs are molded plastic ( see the Eugene, Campbell Kid, boys head mold in picture on left).  Each came dressed and also wore socks and vinyl shoes (note: I have added the Campbell hats and a back pack to my  Eugene dolls for display purposes).

The Campbell Kid boy came in a one piece, blue shorts  style outfit.
The Campbell Kid girl came in a yellow, floral print dress with medium length sleeve and a bloomer type under garment.
They were sold in a thin cardboard box with clear plastic for viewing on the front.
About the display "After School Snack".
The Campbell Kid girl is wearing the childs size M'm! M'm! Good! Hat.  The boys hat is the Campbell's Beanie and he is carrying the 39 piece Campbell's Soup, play food back pack dated 2003 from the Happy Toy Company. What's the After School Snack you ask? That would be play/doll size V8 splash in the refridgerator.

Hello.
Want to hear about my love affair with the fat CS Kid dolls?

When I bought the first one I almost wore out the local librarian's patience trying to identify "my" doll. Duh! It is right smack dab in the middle of the Young's book, page 72, hiding in an oversized dress and hat with a bunch of "shorties" surrounding her! SometimesI I have a bad habit of not reading text thoroughly.

Next, I bought a Life magazine issued November 1, 1954 (with Dorothy Dandridge on the cover in case you want to do a
search? ). There is a huge Campbell's ad, pages 55-61, about their toys and articles for the home and family. THERE was MY girl AND A BOY!! I didn't KNOW that there was a BOY!! WOW!! They were standing near a tin cabinet full of dishes and cooking utensils. She wears red and he wears blue. Oh my goodness! I wantttted a set like that!!! : ) The hunt was on and as they say, the rest is history. (Mostly eBay history that is. : ) )

I still have not found an original tin cupboard with the kids as decals on the front doors. Therefore, I bought a couple of the cabinets and some of the old, original Meyercord CSKids decals. Sandpapered the painting of the gentleman and lady off the doors so they wouldn't show through where the decal would be. But I soon found out that those brittle decals just crinkle and flake when they hit the water. I gave the next ones several coats of lightly watered down Elmer's glue and let them dry thoroughly between coats, dipped the decal in warm water, laid it on a sopping wet washcloth til the backing got thoroughly wet, put it back in the water, gently picked/poked at the decal with a rather dull/rounded paring knife to get the paper off while still supported in the water. Carefully laid the decal on the cabinet door and Voila! I was going to have a "Campbell's Soup" tin cabinet! : ) Wrong! The boy decal crumbled. Darn. Next I will try photo copies of the decal and decoupage. Wish me luck!

The plastic dishes have been very hard to find. They are a dusty rose color. Not red and white as it seems in the ad. Maybe they were made by different companies at times just like her dresses are similar but not identical?? I was verrrry lucky to find a seller who was selling her childhood "almost complete" set. Now I have a few "extra's" but am still missing others.
In the CELEBRITY DOLL JOURNAL May 1975 Issue 3, Lorraine Burdick shows an ad of a real girl posed in front of a CS Kid girl doll standing by a stove. I wonder if it is one of those potentially dangerous "baking" ovens since the girl is about to eat something?? Need to do some digging! ; )

Now to the dolls!!

First...the grocer's....There is only one red checked, tagged dress ( Veronica, the cashier, who started all this! ). All the other clothing was made by a very talented seamstress I met through eBay. ( Just in case your dolls also need new clothes.. ; ) ...with her permission... Faye at lalasmom@cox.net . ) I supplied the fabrics. She did the magic. The grocer's tie is made from a larger "Campbell's" one of course. : ) He also wears a "Sunday" boater straw hat and white shirt with the sleeves rolled up in the style of "Tony", the meat market man that I remember. They have a cash register designed by Grace Drayton.

Second..."hired girl" washing clothes...(everybody used to have one of those!! ) and admiring boy with his dog, Puppo by Grace Drayton. Hopefully Puppo won't get his dirty paws on the clean clothes!! : )

Third..the croquet players needed three Campbell's Scottish doll kits for their clothes. I lovvvvve the tams!! He realllly needs some stockings as his legs are terribly water stained. But.... then he'd need new shoes.... maybe I'll just draw some varicose veins on those blue stains instead!!! : )

Fourth...the seamstress surprised me with a delightful, flowered dress and big hair bow. Grace Drayton loved to draw flowers on her kids' dresses. This doll loves it when her "Mommy" reads to her while she wears her dress "Just like the girl on the book!". The small stuffed doll is from a UFDC convention. The books, the sturdy standup boy and girl Valentines and the drum are all by Grace Drayton.

Now the two latest Kids need outfits. Guess I better talk to Faye about finishing my "ad scene". Then get started on the "stove" hunt! ; )

I hope you enjoyed meeting my "fat" dolls and that you can use the information included for your own treasure hunting. Cella in SDak

PS Just in case you are curious...that "ad" has pictures of your "new Crosley kitchen" (refrigerator, freezer, range, dishwasher, cabinet-sinks, disposal, water heater, radio, television. room air conditioner..) Indian Head fabrics, curtains, tablecloths, Meyercord decals, toy cooking set, Huffman bikes, pla-vac, doll carriage, tin cabinet with fat dolls, party kit, make-it box for toy puppets etc, sew a hat kit, tablemats to color, Dennison ideas, plaster plaques from Miller Studios, Fisher-Price farm truck, sleepers, plastic aprons, chair covers, and tablecloths, squeeze me toys, 5' tall play store....maybe some things you never even heard about!! : ) Cella
